Message from the Clinic
1. For community members
Dr. Kawai, the director of the clinic, holds medical license in Japan. As a member of the teaching staff at a university hospital, he has been involved in cutting-edge medicine, including artificial hearts, heart transplants, and lung transplants across national borders. Based on his experience as a specialist in cardiovascular disease and his broad experience in emergency medicine, Dr. Kawai provides cutting edge, quality medical care to residents. We also offer vaccinations to people working overseas and those planning long trips.
2. Family practice and house call services for foreigners
Dr. Kawai has many years of clinical practice at a hospital in the United States and sees foreign patients at the clinic. He also offers house call services (not covered by health insurance) at lodging facilities and other locations for those who cannot come to the clinic. Additionally, Dr. Kawai can refer patients to advanced medical facilities depending on the disease and provide support for medical repatriation where necessary.
3. For Japanese nationals who are injured or fall sick overseas
The clinic has survey data for overseas medical institutions. When a Japanese national gets sick or has an accident overseas, we can refer the patient to a reliable hospital and contact the local doctors to provide medical support and a second opinion. Additionally, for patients who need on-going hospitalization overseas and patients who would have difficulty returning to Japan by plane, we can arrange international hospital transfers by chartered jets or civilian aircraft under continuous medical care provided by a Japanese doctor and nurse.
The doctor and nurses can provide service directly in English.
We can also provide medical care via three-person interpretation using a tablet in Chinese, Russian, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Tagalog, and Japanese sign language.
